aquatic life aquariums shop is one of my lfs its only about 15min from my house, the couple that run the store are really helpful and have good knowledge of their products. I havent bought anything online before and I dont really see the need to.

Cool Wooly, unfortunately when I compare some of the products at Age of Aquariums to my lfs I can save up to $100 and over on a single product hence the need to shop around. I bought a CF (albeit a cheap brand) a couple heaters, sponge filter and a power head delivered to my door for under $160 dollars, it may or may not last but it will get me by till I sort out my sump.
No need to change where you shop just a good idea to shop around at least you know what your prices are before you go to your lfs

wooly526 - July 27, 2005 12:49 AM (GMT)
Im somewhat sceptical about buying fish online, thats the only australian site i have ever seen( tropicalfishonline.com.au) . If anyone has used it or similar sites let me know what you think of them.

Must thank you btw Steve for Age of Aquariums m8, he'll beat any price by 10% and he is true to his word even if it means nearly halving his price

Frontosa's-$22 each
Discuss(lots of varieties)-$30 each
Tetra's-$2-5 each
and so on and so forth! he's awesome!

mango4jade - July 29, 2005 03:49 PM (GMT)
IMO shops or businesses who sell fish on the internet is much more expensive than shopfront. Also. would you even purchase a fish over the net without seeing the fish before you purchase it? Well it actually depends :P Most Aus online fish stores selling live fish dont last long.

I love these guys. Things get here super speedily. I get all my fish purchases from here, if it's not urgent.

Has anyone found any other online fish supply stores? :) They're always good for comparing prices. ;)

fnesr - April 16, 2006 08:48 AM (GMT)

I buy all my hardware at that www.aquariumproducts.com.au store lately aswell (I go to the store in Browns Plains Bris. not online though) and they're unbeleivable on price on some items in my opinion. I've bought a few cheap canisters in the last few months which I'm fully happy with from there (proaqua1200/1500's for $50/$70)), last time I was there I also bought a wicked ViaAqua stainless steel heater with wall mountable temp controller for $20 which is unbeleivably well priced.

Also for buying actual tanks in Queensland or for price comparison when looking around in other states, this place is pretty good, they're like a wholesaler outlet open to public.. www.aquariumsrus.com.au/

This is a great thread!

does anyone have a good site that sells fish and plants?? (in Aus!!)

livefish - April 17, 2006 06:35 AM (GMT)
Sure do! Live Fish and plants online here:

www.livefish.com.au

Sloory - April 17, 2006 07:52 AM (GMT)
Thats great!

I notice only a small amout of plants for sale, are you going to expand your range?

livefish - April 17, 2006 08:08 AM (GMT)
Yes we will be adding to both our fish and plant range over the next few months.

If you have any suggestions on what you would like to see, I would be very interested.

Sloory - April 17, 2006 09:10 AM (GMT)
well i for one come from shepparton in victoria.
we don't really have that great a selection of plants and fish here so
i'm looking to do most of my business online.

I'm going go get into planted tanks as a hobby so i need somebody with a good assortment of plants especially ground cover types, i haven't had much luck finding those online yet.

Will you be geting any discus or maybe catfish types? what about things like types of snails and shrimp?

enough said i'll let you answer :?:

you should link your sig to your site...

livefish - April 17, 2006 10:40 AM (GMT)
We're breeding up a pretty good selection of pleco's and catfish, including some very rare ones, they'll be on the market soon.

If you sign up for our newsletter, you'll be notified every time we expand our range.
