Title: Pea Puffer Question
Description: freshwater or brackish????

ladyjade1970 - June 18, 2005 02:27 AM (GMT)
Well, I jumped in and got myeself 2 pea puffers!!! Very cute little guys/girls.

They are currently inhabiting a 5 gallon aquarium...1st question...is this big enough?

2nd question...when I looked them up previously it said that they were freshwater. But the lfs said that they needed to be in brackish water??? So which would you all suggest?

I also got a goby(not exactly sure what kind) that was in the same tank with them. They don't seem to mess with him at all.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

if they are dwarf puffers, which i am assuming since their name was "pea" puffer, they are totally freshwater and a 5 gallon is enough for 2. the goby you got might be brackish water though. a pic would help of both species.

I can only echo what punky has said, a pic of each fish could be helpfull or a name for the goby?

Here is a pic of one of the puffers....one is fine, but the other one just kinda sits there...looks kinda dull.

Fed them microworms today and he still just sat there! Not having a good feeling about that one!

Goby...he is very active...very cool!!! Can you keep more than one in a tank...or rather in the 5 gallon tank!

Sorry, its a little blurry.

bumblebee gpby!!!! :woo: they are soo cute, theres two varieties, a fw and a brackish but if this ones scootin about he shoud be fw, yes you can get another two of these critters no worries, but they do need meaty foods, prefferably LIVE daphnia, microworms and bloodworm.

Also feed you puffers some snails to trim their beaks down a little bit

That Bumblebee Goby is cute!

The dwarf puffers should be fine in the tank they are in. You can add one or two more Gobys if you'd like. I would doubt it would bring any harm.

Omg that goby is so cute...

This is why I wanted to get more Goby! :gay:

Well, I did a water change on them, took out about 75% water (had salt as per lfs) and put fresh in. 2nd puffer is now up and moving! :woo:

There was a group of them on Aqua Bid a bit ago, but I didn't know enough about them to bid on them. It wasn't too bad of a price.

I don't know if the 2nd one that I bought is gonna make it or not. He isn't looking good.
