I've heard nothing negative about Jason Selong's fish....Just good things....and the yellow in your sig is nice...but I think I remember rating your yellows a while back...top notch examples of the species...!

Why thank you. :) To be honest whoever was breeding them before me did most of the work. I think they will continue to be a great strain, I have some nice unrelated blood to mix the genetics up some. I got two bags of nice juvies and a nice adult male from a GCCA auction a few months ago.

I have nothing but great things to say about the fish I've gotten from Jason. My Ps. Perspicax Ndumbi, pair of Cobue(not the main group pictured), Ngara flametails, and Lab Hongi all came from him. I love them all. I've gotten pictures of all of them but the back up pair of Cobue. For some reason the male hasn't totally fired up, but I'm moving fish to the new house and he seems to be coloring up all the sudden now. Change is good sometimes. :)

Orbital, I'd like to thank you for sharing...it was so good I had to make a profile out of it....

So congratulations on being the first TFC Member to have theirAfrican Cichlid post about their fish turned into a profile!

Good stuff...but if you mind me using your post like that (I did edit it just a bit...moved the order of the pics...took my name out of it...), let me know...I can change it back....

I don't mind, helping educate other about this beautiful species in any way I can. I agree, they are opprotunistic hunters. They will pick off smaller fry at times. My original male was kind of bad about picking off smaller juvies if I put them in too soon. Some he couldn't even fit in his mouth, but would munch on them abit. On the other hand I have a 1" juvie in the 55 gallon that lives with the adults and even the LIthobates without being picked off, surprises me! It even comes out to feed in the open. Its growing well, so I figure I'll leave it be.

I've had that "persistant fry" that turned into one of my breeding female peacocks! I tend to think that if a fry can survive in the main tank then it's somehow 'better than average'....I would imagine under that kind of unatural selective pressures found in the aquarium that they would be one hardy lil bugger...It also makes you wonder how we are changing the genetic population of the fish in the aqurium trade when we choose our breeders that way....

It reminds me of the incedent with the tank raised Calerpa (an algea) getting loose in the Mediteranian....kinda makes ya wonder huh?
