ok white spot outbreak bad enough? I had a tree fall on power lines outside my house today power was out for like 8 hours lol. I guess its one of the many joys of fishkeeping, now im facing nitrate spikes aswell. All i could do was try and regulate temp by placing plastic bottles of hot water in my tank, if anyone else gets as much bad luck as me let me know.
It would be cool to hear about all the unforseen shit that happens to us so reply your bad experiences.

I would suggest investing in a small battery operated air pump. We get a lot of heavy thunderstorms in spring and fall here in Texas and having one (or more) of these on hand for when the power goes out is a must have!
To keep tanks warm, you can wrap a heavy blanket around them to hold the heat in. That should help.
To keep tanks cool (its summer here and gonna hit 100 today) try floating frozen bottles of water in the tank or place a fan to where it blows on the surface of the water.

ive had loadsa crap like that :banghead:
do alot of water changes to help bring down the nitrates and treat the whitespot, also if you can turn up the temp it helps with the ICH,but regualr water changes will affect the meds if ur using and
good luck

I saw the flood pictures this morning of NSW you guys got it bad after the long drought. I hope all is going good for you and the rain falls just a little lighter over your place for the next few days.

My power outage solution is a modified computer ups... Tore it apart and replaced teh dinky little batteries with two deep cycle marine batteries. Works for days in an emergency...
