Hi all. I'm looking for some tank help ^,~ Hopefully I can get the help/questions I need answered here....
I bought a black and white molly and a calico fantail recently...these are the only 2 fish in the tank....and well...the molly is atacking the fantail, nipping at it's fins. I thought (was told) Molly's were community fish. Am I wrong?
Welcome to the Forums!
Mollys are a community fish but long fins are to temping for most fish not to pick at :( The Fantail that you have isnt really ment for being in tanks, alot of Fish Shops sell alot of them to make a fast dollar but not telling the customer that these are ment for ponds or really big tanks like 55g+.
Im not the goldfish expert here but there are a few here that are, maybe if you post a new topic in the cold water section you would be better helped :)
Welcome along :)
Hi and welcome!
Yea, what Vip said was spot on. The only thing I could suggest is return the fantail and get something else or get some other tankmates for the molly to chase around. How many depends on your tank size and filteration.
By having more than just the two fish in there it will help to distract some of the mollies attention from the fantail.
Hope that helps!
