Title: Question about marble bettas..

thatdarndragon - July 10, 2005 03:03 PM (GMT)
Hi

Since I've never owned a marble betta before (Till now, i believe my new CT is a marble)

How often do they change colors?

and how fast? like a few days? few hours?

any other info I should know?

If he's def a marble, I took pics of first day to compare later on.

I think it depends on the fish really. Some change slowly to something not much different, some look like someone dipped them in paint overnight.

Well - I have a couple of them.
I didn't even know one of them ws a marble until his fins started to change. He looked like a butterfly for months and suddenly he started turning red.

From what I have heard they can change colors really frequently or go for months without changing.

Do you have pics of yours? :)

aww, that means I have to wait patiently, lol. It'll be like getting a new fish every time.

what causes the marbles to change?

Water quality? health?

or its just random?

Karen (did I get your name right?): I'm not sure. I would like to think it is some sort of stimulation over time, along with good (or bad) water etc. It would be really cool if environment affected that.

I mean, let's say you had a marble in a nice tank, and he was fed really well etc, and someone else had a marble in a stupid vase with a plant for food. Maybe one would change more than the other, not at all and so on.

Hmm...

You got my name right :)

Im almost tempted to do that experiment, but.. cant. 1. I only have 1 marble (though I think my female CT is marble, not sure) and 2. I'd feel b ad for having one in a good home and the other in a not so good home, lol

i couldent be

The problem is, how do you know if the betta is supposed to change a lot, or not at all, or just a little? Since each betta is different.

I was thinking an experiment would be neat, but I don't see how, unless bettas in bad water don't change whatsoever.

Honestly, I'm saying it's just a mood thing... but I could be completely wrong. It could just be random... that's pretty accurate. Hahaha. I love marbles!
