Title: Good webites / Bad websites

vantgE - July 15, 2005 04:13 AM (GMT)

I figured everyone should post a couple of the websites with the worst info, then I though it's better to add some goodones, and maybe this will end up as a good resources

These are my favorite fish so far so I can start here with two sites

BAD
http://www.aquariacentral.com/fishinfo/fresh/kenyi.htm
All wrong

GOOD
http://www.aquatic-hobbyist.com/profiles/f...lids/kenyi.html
I like this one, could go a little smaller on the tank size but it's safe

Good riftlake info:
www.bigskycichlids.com

I don't pay much attention to the bad ones. 25 gallon recommended for Kenyi, damn what was that person smoking and I want to see their adults in that setup. :pft:

How horible
Guppies as food for Mbuna, a 25g tank recomendation. He must be a mega pet employee.

This brings up a great point...what do you do with the bad links? In a couple of cases I've contacted the site admin, and very politely and professionally explained why I felt the information was incorrect. I also stated that I am an active member on a number of fish discussion boards, and would like to link to their species info (giving them "free advertising") I've never had a negative reply when I've approached the issue in this manner, although I have been ignored. I must say that MongoBay.com has been extremely receptive to my feedback and has updated or changed a number of species profiles (although there is still some misinformation there...)

What I don't like is someone approaching me asking loaded questions that they already know the answer to, hoping to make me look like a jackass.... :eatit:

...so I try my best not to approach others this way. If you approach people, looking to help them, you will get a much better response than if you come pointing fingers....

I'll get off my soapbox now....

Yep mongabay, suggests feeding bloodworms on their lombardoi profile

I tried to contact one site couln't really find any way how, except this button that was like clomplete a survey to help improve our site--Ten minutes through I relize it is just an add and has nothing to so with the site, I can be a little slow at times
