Title: just wondering?
Chewy - July 15, 2005 11:31 PM (GMT)
I am debating setting up an indoor pond in my house. Has anyone ever attempted such a feat and if so....how much of a pain in the A** is it?
I know logistics, just wondering about overfolow issues, setup, pastic vs self-made etc.

Also consider the thermal properties of water...it takes a lot more energy to heat/cool a house that has a lot of 78 degree tanks in it....
A pond is going to raise the humidity in your house, make sure your ac has a good sized drip pan under the dehumidifier...
Mold/Mildew might be another consideration...
just a few thoughts....

I haven't myself, how big of a pond are you thinking?
I have a friend around here that has a 150gallon'ish rubbermaid horse trough that he uses as a cichlid growout. Kind of a tall pond, I like it and it seems like a effective grow out method. I want to setup one or two myself.
The LFS I goto has a pretty nice looking pond in their shop, has a water fall that goes into the pond. Its stocked with large koi, pretty neat.

I know people have done it, and I know it is possible.
In my bedroom I have about 60 gallons total of water, in 4 separate tanks, all heated. My room is easily 10+ degrees hotter than the rest of the house.
As for mildew/humidity etc, find out how the big guys do it. Some people have 600 gallon tanks in their house afterall...
