Title: Turnover rate for powerheads

Well, I've read about this many times. People arguing over how much turnover a SW tank should have. For my 10g, I'm goin to say I'll have around 15x, to keep my LR clean.

How much do you guys have?

Some of my tanks have as little as 5-6X and some have as much as about 18-20X. Depends on which take it is and what I have in it...

For a 10 gallon Nano that has crushed coral...I think 15X is a reasonable figure. If your using a fine substrate such as Oolitic Sand or Tahitian Moon, then 10X is going to be more suitable.

JMHO....

Well, I have yet to choose what kind of substrate this tank will have. It will have hardy corals and a pair of Clowns. Im thinkin a 15-18x turnover would be perfect.

In your 10, I would suggest about a 10-15x turnover with the clowns. If you go with some of the Non-SPS corals this will be plenty. In a 15 gallon I am using a Aqua-Clear 20 (at lowest flow setting) and a Maxi-jet 400 rated at about 100 gph. This arrangemnt is close to be the max flow with Oolitic Sand for substrate in my 15. This should give you somewhat of an idea to gauge your needs against for your 10 gallon.
