Anyone keep there? They are also known as Buck-toothed Tetras, or the Hershaw Tetra.

Buck tooths do get about 6 inch if they are caught at this size more likely to hit 4-5inch if grown from small, and are a shoaling fish, id recommend groups of eight plus. These fish are lovely to look at, black spots at the base of the caudal fin, with a greenish/golden hue to the body.

Id recommend these fish for a SPECIES only tank, as unlike the pirahna, exodons can be very aggresive for no reason. They are soley piscivores (eating only fish) i havent in my experiece come across any fed on anything else.

they are very active and curious fish, and their curiosity extends to, can i eat this? and if one member of the shoal takes a bite others are very very fast to follow suit. This extends to other exodons, so be ready to accept the odd loss here and there

Just a quick update, a recent article in this months pracitcal fish keeping, entitled "The Howling" was an article dedicated entirely to predatory charcins, in it the writer states

"although it may be a costly investment, it would be advisable to have a shoal of a dozen or more, as any less would result in the deaths of conspecifics"

i.e the dominant one would pick on the others till they died and he ate them, lovely eh?
