Title: ¿Male Or Female?

NurthinAziz - July 27, 2005 09:31 PM (GMT)
I was wondering if anyone knows how to tell if a parrot/oscar fish is a Male or a Female?

Parrots & Oscars cant be sexed untill they lay eggs, then you can see whitch is the female. You can how ever "vent" them but it stress's the fish out alot because you have to handle them and turn them upside down.

With Oscars I believe its difficult to know until a certain size and then the best way is by venting, this is why they recomend you get half a dozen and wait till they pair off to be sure you have both :hmm:

oops to slow typing :banghead:

My biggest BP takes great delight in making hollowed out areas in the rocks...moving them around and defending it...very cute to watch.

Does this hint male/female??? :hmm:

There is no visable way to tell the sex of an Oscar, venting is the only real way.

Cool looking O!
