Care: Angelfish are very sensitive fish, able to detect slight changes in nitrate and ammonia levels. Recommended for novice fish keepers, they need a healthy diet to repel diseases and increase fin and color quality. Young angels prefer to be kept in groups.
Tank Setup: Love bogwood, rocks, and live plants. Be sure to have large open swimming areas.
Companions: characins (Headstanders, hatchetfish, larger schooling tetras), catfish (Armored, Pimelodids, Doradids, Loricarids), cichlids (Discus, Waroo, Acaras, Ram, Eartheaters), gouramis.
Sexing: Impossible to tell unless breeding. Males tend to have a bump on their heads.
Breeding: A relatively easy fish to breed. Its best to form pairs when young. Keep a half a dozen juveniles in the same tank, allow them to pair off. When pair is formed, move to tank large enough to hold pair and possible fry. Have water temperature around 81-86F (27-30C) and 6.5 pH.
Types: There are many varieties of Angels including zebra, koi, marble, half-black, veiled, blushing, gold, pearl scaled and silver. There are still many more but too many to list.
