Title: Went to the Fish Store
Description: ...did it again! LOL

ladyjade1970 - August 1, 2005 05:19 PM (GMT)
Went into the fish store on Saturday...got my Mom some cute little lemon tetras...

Then was looking around and this tank had your choice...$1.50!!!! In this tank was this beat up male betta...poor baby didn't have much of a tail and just looked miserable!!! They said that he got the hell beat out of him in a tank with other fish.

Needless to say...he is now swimming in a divided 10 gallon aquarium here at my house!

He seems to be doing alright, except that he hides behind a rock I have in there with the divider....so half the time I panick thinking he is missing out of his tank (jumped)!

Here is a picture of the poor little guy...any name ideas????

Awww, good for you for saving him! He's going to be quite a pretty little boy when his fins start filling in!

jols - August 1, 2005 05:51 PM (GMT)
He's pretty :D
Maybe Rocky? Seems tough like him.

BettaMomma - August 1, 2005 06:31 PM (GMT)
Wow - he IS going to be gorgeous when he grows those fins back.

As far as names - I'm not good at naming fish at ALL.
That's why most of my fish have names that normally would be given to hairy old guys. (Harvey, Archie, etc.)

But I do like Rocky....and he has definitly had a rocky road so far!!!!!

Good one, Jols!

Get him a Sylvester Stallone cut out, or somehow find a mini-statue of Rocky. Or print off a picture of the stair steps he runs on in the movie and put that behind his lil' home :D

bettabelieveit - August 1, 2005 07:34 PM (GMT)
How about Crayola for the name? :) only seems fitting with all those colors.

Photochick - August 1, 2005 08:12 PM (GMT)
Way to go saving the little guy. You are a good person. I dunno, he doesn't look like a Rocky, to peachy colored. How about Sherbet or Schnapps! I know goofy names, but I see his color, and those are my 2 favorite things that come to mind. Orange Sherbet and Peach Schnapps!

TacoFrano - August 1, 2005 08:52 PM (GMT)
awah he is adorable!

Karah's_Mommy - August 1, 2005 09:42 PM (GMT)
Buttercup !!

That's the first name that came into my mind.

Mariah - August 2, 2005 01:00 AM (GMT)
How about 'Mello' for a name? :hmm: Very cute little boy!

ladyjade1970 - August 2, 2005 04:02 AM (GMT)
Think I wil stick to Rocky for him...

But Crayola kinda suits this guy.....Got him the other day....

Where are you getting your new bettas from???

Had a question on this guy...can't get his colors just right on photoshop...but his fins are clear looking with red dots/streaks going thru them....is there a "name" for this type of coloration???

Jason (Bettabelieveit) ordered some from Grandbetta on aquabid. I just happen to be getting his free one and the other male orange plakat.

Ok, so the coloration... I'm seeing more and more of it around. ONE store we went to called it tangerine, but it doesn't look like a tangerine to me. It's really only a coloration I've seen on veils, but I love it. My Pookie has some spots like that, too...

We should ask some breeders and see what they say!

BUT that one has had my name on him for a long time now.

No more for me for real.
