yeah thats an oddity for sure.

There are lots of interesting critters for the saltwater bubba's out there. There are a number of scorpion fish that are kinda cool looking. One of my favorite oddities is the Bat Fish. Unfortunately its a bit difficult and it doesnt keep the striking colors that the Juveniles have. The Box and Cow fishes look pretty cool too, have you checked any of these out?

Salt freak - March 31, 2005 08:59 PM (GMT)
That looks so ugly but yet somehow so COOL. Bet you wont say the same thing about the achilles tang.

Salt freak - April 1, 2005 01:43 AM (GMT)

Oh dont you know thats the truth but god they are so jaw dropping gorgous to see in the flesh. I am so tempted to grab the next one that shows up on UTS's distributor availability list dispite the cost!

Salt freak - April 1, 2005 03:37 AM (GMT)
depending were you are take a look at this. they get there fish in daily but no guarantee that this fish will be in there tomorrow but in a couple of weeks but I love there company all the stuff I bought from them acclimates very well and is very good health.

Some how I am not so sure they are willing to ship to Japan, if they did, good lord I would hate to see what the shipping is going to cost!!!

The last order I got from state side, was 3 choice Acro colonies and 2 tiny Softy coral frags and the shipping was a good bit more than the 258.00 the corals cost...needless to say I felt pretty violated! But I have to admit...Mike at MDM Aquatics has some really sweet stuff at times if your quick and stalk the site like a vulture...so you can snag those top shelf items before anyone else sees them!

Salt freak - April 1, 2005 12:38 PM (GMT)
Ya they probaly wont ship to japan. 258.00 for shipping I only paid 25.00 for shipping from them.

Ritsuko Nashida - April 1, 2005 01:02 PM (GMT)
When your shipping from USA to Japan, (instead of just across the states) they charge big stupid dollars for FedEx! Its criminal and there ought to be a law, LOL! But what are you gonna do? Thats one reason I do a lot of prompagating so I can share nice but reasonably priced frags with others here. It really helps the newbies in the hobby get in on the ground floor without breaking the bank, not to mention keeps them from being harvested from the wild too.

Salt freak - April 1, 2005 09:02 PM (GMT)
Ya true I'm doing some propagting on my mushrooms and polyps havn't really sold any yet. And it definitly makes it easier on the reefs for every one coral that we can not take from the reef is another coral that stays in the reef.

Opcn - April 1, 2005 10:50 PM (GMT)
But there are so many cool critters you can get from japanese trawlers. I'd say thats a scorpion fiash of some sort VIP, not the prettiest of fish, but look at these http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/detaile....cfm?pCatId=444 Or any of these http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/scateg.cfm?pCatId=1636 or any of these http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/scateg.cfm?pCatId=1635.

So colorful, so sleek and interesting, beat thecrap outta FW fish, and SW inverts are unparallelled, The only snails that come close are tang lake snails, which aren't common in the hoby at all.

Vip - April 29, 2005 06:08 AM (GMT)
those are pretty fish Opcn bug time! but i love ugly fish as well, the more ugly the better i reckon!

Salt freak - April 30, 2005 12:28 AM (GMT)
That is true they do add a diverisity to your fish tank along with texture neet color patterns and they are just plane cool to begin with.

OceanOracle - May 2, 2005 10:30 PM (GMT)
Although the Achilles is a truely beautiful fish (probably my 3rd fav fish) I personally feel the most stunningly beautiful fish in the entire ocean is the Sohal Tang

And i am getting one... soon!
(before anyone starts the "you know how aggrewssive this fish is" lark... yeah i have researched this fish in great detail.

Vip - May 3, 2005 12:48 AM (GMT)
that is one hell of a fish, how big do they get?

Ritsuko Nashida - May 3, 2005 02:38 AM (GMT)
About 40 cm or 15.5 inches. They come from the Red Sea or Arabian Gulf...or the LFS! :D

Salt freak - May 3, 2005 03:05 AM (GMT)
Or the internet. :D

OceanOracle - May 3, 2005 09:07 AM (GMT)
Yeah they can get large.. the larger ones can get very aggressive yet many find that smaller ones adjust well to tank life and are less troublesome. June 4th is the day mine arrives and i simply cannot wait

veen - May 4, 2005 08:05 PM (GMT)
i personally think the coolest looking sw fish is the clown trigger. not that i would get one but they're cool!! :D

Ritsuko Nashida - May 7, 2005 02:47 AM (GMT)
You got me there, that is a eye popping fish! Got to be the best looking of the Triggers although there are a few that could be in that catagory.

I used to know a divers phone number and email from Hawaii that collected the crosshatch triggers and I was able to buy males at 174.95 and females at 74.95 each from him. They were coming in at 11"+ with the females at about 8" for that price which is cheap.
