Title: Cloudy water
Description: How do you make it go away?!

Saucy - August 3, 2005 03:04 AM (GMT)
So BettaMomma gave me some gravel and decor a while ago that I have in one of my 2.5 gallon MiniBows. I washed the everything really well before I put it in the tank and during the last two water changes. The water is STILL cloudy just on the bottom. It's like a haze that's on the bottom half of the tank.

How do I make it go away? Is the tank trying to cycle but can't because there's still bacteria on the gravel? Should I just switch to marbles or something?

Something like that going on is just aggravating..... :bitchslap:

What did you use to clean the gravel with?

HOT water. That's it.

BettaMomma - August 3, 2005 03:25 AM (GMT)
It's cursed.
Why do you think I gave it to you? hahahahah!

Just kiddin - I'd soak it in super hot water and salt for a long time. I really don't know what could be causing that. It wasn't ever cloudy here...

Or just get marbles. lol

I'm wondering if it could be the pH change... cause your's is like 8.4 and mine is right around 7.

When I was younger my folks used to boil their gravel to clean it.... :hmm:

I don't know...maybe it would be easier to just get marbles!

LOL... geez. I guess marbles it will be when I get paid on Friday!

Ummm.... right... only if you're driving! We can go look at the fish! At a Walmart that's actually got a healthy fish department. OR I can wait till Friday... haha.

Don't know if it's the same situation, but I bought a bag of gravel from Walmart when I got Batista and washed it thouroughly several times before I put it in the tank with hot water. The morning after I put it in the tank I woke up to Batista covered in white spots. I thought he'd gotten ich! Then I realized the gravel was "peeling." The paint was coming off of it. The water was almost like milk. Needless to say I yanked the gravel out and he now has marbles. The gravel is where it belongs. Filling a crawdad hole in the back yard by the creek.

For some reason, I don't like the colored gravel..

I use a gravel that is like pea gravel I guess and have never had any problems...but then most of my tanks are a natural look.

Have a box of blue/purple gravel sitting outside...don't know what to do with it now.... :hmm: Put in the bottom of my flower pots I guess.

The gravel isn't colored though - it's the natural color stuff so I don't think that's it. It doesn't have any fake coloring on it.
It was a good thought - and the reason why I pitched all my colored gravel and went to natural.

See, my colored gravel has never been cloudy... lol. Just this stuff. Well, I'm probably going to go get some marbles when Jason and I take our late night Walmart run!!

Throw that crap away.
Uugh - that's enough to drive a person mad!!
