Title: bad day for bettas at my house too!
Description: there must be something in the water...

well, my 2 beautiful butterflies from yeevia had been very listless for a few days and then the red butterfly started to have red tips to his fins, so i started to treat them both with jungle fungus clear, thinking it was septicemia and the package said that it treats that. after 2-3 days of treatment i decided to try maracyn 2, so i stopped at the lfs to buy some (and tetracycline and erythromycin, just in case). i got home and they were both dead! :wtf:
then i got up this morning and was feeding everyone else and get to blue, my oldest betta, and he was dead too! he had been perfectly healthy. i have had him for about 2 years though, so i am guessing it may have been old age (petsmart betta) :bye:
so, i miss my guys already :rip: i didn't even get to name my yeevia boys, i had them for just a few months and could think of any suitable names for such lovely boys...
so, that was my day... just wanted to share.

I'm sorry to hear of your losses.
I'm right there with ya.
I am afraid it won't be long and I'll have bad news to report.
It doesn't get easier with the next one at ALL either.
It's ALWAYS hard to try to figure out what happened to them.
:(

So many things happened in a few days. :( I hope you feels better and try to figure out what makes that happened. How is the temperature? HOT? Water wise?

Me too... only mine killed 5 of my fish over about a month. I still don't use my tap water because I don't want to test it and end up killing my fish again.

the only thing i can think of is that at the last water change before they started acting poorly (the butterfly boys) i forgot to add the waters of the world, so their pH would have been a little higher than they were used to. when i realized that i did a complete WC with the WOW, colloidal silver and dechlorininator. then they got worse, so i started the JFC.
i am in boston and it has been 70-95 all summer, and don't have AC, so the temps do fluctuate a bit, mid 70's to low 80's, but no abnormal fluctuation before the symptoms appeared.
i think blue was just old, and the JFC didn't do anything for the septicemia, if that's what it was. knock wood, my 14 remaining bettas seem great!
