Ok, so I have 5 bettas: Jewel, Flash, Blaze, Crash, and Maui. Jewel, Flash, Blaze, and Crash all live in a divided 10 gal which is cycled. Maui lives in a 1 gal aquaclear Bowl. Right now, Jewel is the ONLY one that is healthy!!!

A few days ago I noticed Blaze's finrot appeared to be returning. He got taken out of the divided tank and put into a 1 gal bowl, and was given salt and clean water. Today, it is clear it is definately not getting better on its own.

This morning, I begin making rounds, and Crash is the first one I check on. His tail is in shreds and has turned from white to red, almost looking like finrot + sepcemia.

Maui came home from the LPS with both ich and one area of suspected finrot. Its a small hole (~2 mm) that is surrounded by black. I have kept him in clean water with salt, and nothing.

Flash - He isn't too bad, but his tail is beginning to look like a withered plant.

How many fish can have fin problems at once?

I completely agree, seems that when one fish get sick, all the others do too.

Oh, please don't say that... my puffer is sick... and I do NOT want my betta babies sick, too. I think this is the first time they've all be healthy, actually... *knock on wood*. Bo has regrowth and it's getting better every day. Brandon's dorsal is regrowing (as is his tail from biting). Jon's tail is almost done regrowing. Lucy is doing well after her jump onto the wood floor...

It's so great... minus the puffer... heh.

Refresh me on how often you are doing water changes, etc.
What's your routine with them?

And is one of the boys in with the filter in your divided 10G then?

I have only set up the divided 10 gal last week, which is when I also bought Maui. I don't have a very established water change schedule.

Before setting up the 10 gal, I changed their water atleast weekly, if not twice a week. I have kept this up with Maui, as there was no room left for him in the 10 gal.

In the 10 gal, there was a very low ammonia reading (less than .25) about three days ago, so I did a 50% water change. This has sence gone back to zero. Nitrite has stayed at zero the entire time.

Blaze, the first one that I noticed his tail being destroyed, was in with the filter intake. Eariler I thought he was in a different compartment but later realized Flash had jumped when turned my back durring the water change I did on tuesday. From what I have seen, Blaze is a pretty strong swimmer. I put him back yesterday since I had three guys who I decided to medicate. When I turned the filter up to 100% (usually kept at as low as possible) to help mix the meds around he did fine.

Crash - Not near the intake, but his white tail is very shreded and also bloody looking.

Maui - One hole in the center of his tail, ~ 2 mm across, surrounded by black edges

Flash - tail beginning to look ragged, afraid what ever it is, its spreading.
