Title: Skimmer on a 10g?

Should I get a simmer for my 10g? I know most people don't, I'm just afraid I'll forget to do bi-daily water changes on such a small tank.

Probaly but you can keep that one fine with regular water changes. But you don't want to run your skimmer until a week after the end of the cycle.

Ok thanks mate. I guess for a tan this size, I could easily DIY one using an air pump and some tubing...

FWIW...I get by just fine keeping a tank this size topped off with fresh water to make up for evaporation and a 1 gallon or so water change weekly which I usually do on the week end. With a heavy bio-load (and there shouldnt be on a tank this small just one or two fish...) maybe a bit more often would be prudent but I dont think there would really be a need for bi-daily water changes...and a skimmer while perfectly acceptable isnt neccessarily a requirement to successfully keep a Nano-Reef.

Many people to help out the filtration system and export nutrients add a modified Aqua-Clear 300 (not sure what htey are calling the new and improved versions of this filter) that has had the impeller replaced with a smaller sized one and converted the filter into a mini-refugium. I have even seen one with some chaetomorphe algae and a single Red Mangrove in it that looked pretty happening. Thats always an option if your that nervous about water quality...
