There are many species of mogurnda, but the care is generally the same for all of them.
Mogurndas get to around 6", and will gladly eat any small fish. I feed mine krill, frozen foods, worms, and crickets.
The minimum tank size for a pair of mogurndas is a 20g long, and several can be kept in a 3 foot species tank. They can do well in communities, but don't mix very well with aggressive or even semi aggressive cichlids.
I keep my gudgeons in a pH of 7, and a temperature around 78 degrees (Ideal for many tropicals).
When you have a pair, they will spawn, they lay eggs on any flat surface (rocks, glass, etc) and the male will stand watch over them, fanning them and defending them. He wil torture the female and eat the fry when they become free swimming, so both parents will need to be removed so the eggs an hatch (The female should be removed after the eggs are laid, the male shortly before they hatch)
Thes gudgeons are great fish, they behave like cichlids to a degree and they are the best beggars I've ever kept.
