Title: Peacock gudgeon
Description: Tateurndina ocellicauda

Dwarfs - August 17, 2005 05:31 PM (GMT)
Max size: 2.5"

Minimum tank size: 10 gallons

Water requirements: Neutral pH is good, 78-80 degrees

Feeding: Freeze dried bloodworms, brine shrimp, daphnia, crushed krill, frozen bloodworms, and frozen brine shrimp are all taken. Flakes won't be accepted easily.

Compatibility: They will do well with any fish that can't eat them IME, they are tough enough to stand up to cichlids and fin nippers, and friendly enough to leave the more pathetic fish alone.
Breeding: They will spawn in a small tube and the male will take care of the eggs, but when they hatch, the male eats them. My dad has successfully hatched fry by giving the pair a small pot to spawn in, then you place the pot upside down on the sponge filter (air tube goes through the whole on the bottom of the pot, which is facing upwards) This replaces the male, the bubbles "fan" the eggs, and the fry fall onto the sponge filter when they hatch, which lets them eat any small microorganisms on it until they get larger.

Dwarfs - do you know what their lifespan is? I have a trio that are about six months old, and I have a breeding tank ready for them, but the cold weather and lack of live food makes me reluctant to put them in there just yet. How long have I got?

I would think that they can live to at least 5 years, maybe a little less, but you have a while before old age becomes a problem :)

like alot of other fish 3 to 5 years seems to be a common answer given from various sources [ text books/online]............if well cared for who knows how long they'll live. Great little fish .
