Title: Great Pinned Topics!
DannyBoy17 - April 3, 2005 10:14 PM (GMT)
Im lovin the articles that Rtis wrote, and was thinkin about a few other common questions and topics someone should write about (*nudges Rits):
-Difference between soft and hard corals. What are SPS, and why are they so rare?
-The use of tap water in the Marine tank.
-The advantages and disadvantages of Live Sand
Those are just a few that I would find to be a good read!

Thanks for the feed back! I was wondering if any of that was really worth while. I kinda wanted to add photos despite my crappy vacation camera and its weak close ups that leave a lot to be desired. I mean a picture can be worth a 1000 words or so they say, but hey I always work good with pictures :P . But if the write ups arent that good why waste the time and effort taking all those pics resizing them and all just to add them in to a ho-hum write up. Guess its not too bad though...
Okay ask and you shall receive. I will try to crank one out on Live Sand VS "Dry" Sand. That should be fairly short and sweet. Not a whole lot to that subject I dont think. But depending on what side of the fence you stand on it can be heatedly debated, huh?
Guess we have pretty much wrung out the tap water issue today here on the forum. Hareball brought up a few points I would have over looked although I have experienced many of those same issues before. Just not always something that jumps into the top of your mind when discussing this.
Uhmmm, the Soft Coral and the Hard (SPS) Coral issue...thats a bit more complicated to cover breifly and thoroughly without loosing any readers becuase you got too technical. But maybe I could work my way in that direction and see what happens.
Any other ideas?

I was wondering about the different kinds of sands. Maybe a pic of each, and it's pros and cons?
Also, maybe a Top 10 list of mistakes new comers make? Ive read a lot, I would have to say Fish selection, too little filtration/LR and too little lighting for demanding reefs would be up there. That just came off the top of my head though.
Anyways, good luck, and yes the time taken to write those is very much appreciated by us Marine tankers!

We will do then. I have about 30 or so subjects I have thought about and on my list we can always add a few more and do some faster than others. What ever helps the masses out there...

I think this forum should have an Article section, where members and mods can post articles or profiles on fish. The members' writings will be checked by a mod, then posted if it meets the standards.
I find there to be many different basic questions a lot of people have, and to have and article sections would be a good way to quickly browse through some topics, without clogging up the forum with sticky's and pinned topics.

Thats an excellent idea for the forum. I think that once we get some size and start getting some serious traffic that haveing a section like this for the Freshwater side of the house and one for the saltwater side would be very benefical.
Prehaps these sections such as I have described, if there is enough popular support, could be situated in the section where the Newbie folder, and beginner section is...
Just something we could toss around amonst the members and think about...
