Title: New Betta!
Description: unbelievable find

icecrystal - August 26, 2005 07:21 PM (GMT)
I'd like to introduce everyone to Fiyero, my newest betta. I really shouldn't have bought him, but I had just enough money left from my tips to get him, and I couldn't resist. I don't think I'll ever find another one like him again!

I'm not positive on precisely what he is, but he looks to me like a red/clear butterfly near half-moon rosetail.
But I'm not sure, I'll let you guys be the judge of that. His tail isn't quite as ruffly as some of the rosetails yeevia posts, but he doesn't have the proper ray extension for crown or combtail, as far as I know.

Anyway, pictures!

Shortly after I put him in his Kritter Keeper, he started to show off.

Here's a closeup shot of his tail, so you guys can decide what he is.. no flaring shots yet, he's a loner on my desk and the other two bettas are on my dresser. I'll find a mirror to play with later.

This is my favourite shot.. he was just playing around in his camboba, and it turned out so amazing. It's a bit big, but it's scaled down from the original 1600x1200.

I couldn't believe how cheap he was.. he looks like a betta I saw on AquaBid before for $50-ish.. he was $5.99.
I am so going back to that fish store when I set up my 34g. The guy was so nice, he let me take 30 some odd pictures of his fish, and I got some beautiful shots. I'll be posting those in the proper forum, though.

Edit :: I forgot a shot of his tank. :/ I'm thinking he's a tad overrun by camboba at the moment, so I'll probably split it up later between the other boys.

I love his coloring, he sure has some butterfly in him that's for sure, he looks... mmmm... maybe halfmoon, maybe more along the lines of super delta, or a delta, either way, great find :)

I've seen him stretch out his tail and it looks inbetween delta and HM.. I just can't deem to catch him doing it on camera! :cuss: He sits there and looks at his reflection and the minute I go to take his picture, he moves.

Thanks, everyone :) I took 111 pictures of him last night trying to get him to flare, so I'm about to go through them and see if I got lucky. THENNN you can see how big his tail is, and you'll see what I mean by near halfmoon.

Edit :: This is the best shot I got out of 111. :hmm:

Thoughts? I saw him do a full on flare last night but couldn't catch it on camera -- he looks like HM to me.

I'm in love with his tail, but I'd be happy if I could just get a proper shot of him flaring!

*Mutters incoherently at the betta.*

I think I have a new mission this afternoon before work.. lol
