I know it's not for a betta, but my one of my dad's swordtails isn't doing well and I want to set it up in a 1 gallon hospital tank. I figure we know more about using IAL here. I can't pinpoint what's wrong with the fish, it's just extremely lethargic and less than half the size of his other sword although they're the same age. She's been like this for several weeks now, my dad has had her in a breeding net for the last week, and she's just not getting better. She's eating some but otherwise lays on the bottom of the net. Any recommendations on treatment with IAL in a 1 gallon hospital tank? I've boiled some and have it sitting to get stronger. I'm going to add that 'tea water' in a few hours. Is that all that is needed? Do I float a few leaves in the tank as well? I'm new to using IAL and not totally sure of exactly how to use it.
I've never used both together and I'm not sure it would be a good idea since it lowers the ph in the water. You don't want to get it a lot lower than what she is used to or she'll go into shock in addition to her other problems. If you've already boiled the water I'd just use that, if you just want the leaf use about an inch square for a 1g. Good luck with her.
