I was at Wal-Mart getting my tail-less CT's (his name is Sunder BTW) tank and I overheard one of the employees speaking to a lady about bettas. Crossing my arms I stepped back and assumed my "blank face" and listened. He was doing pretty good until she asked about the plant in the bowl and he said they would feed off the roots. The time for waiting was no more! I stepped in and said, "Uh, no, they don't eat roots. Bettas are carnivorous and will only eat the roots out of desperation because they are starving to death." The employee looked surprised and said, "I didn't know that." "Most people don't," I replied and proceeded to explain basic betta care. Both customer and store employee were educated.

I then whisked myself away after saving the day to buy... jerky and my tank.

It drives me NUTS when people get wrong information.
