Description: human involvment?

i was at the lfs today and just looked around abit and notice the strains of guppys these days are really intense, a little to colorful for the guppys to be doing it them selfs by breeding one with another, there was one of them they really stood out it had black lines from its head to its tail and then the other stripes where almost "chrome" yes its true i couldnt belive it, it looked man made.
Has anyone else seen this happening?

The guppies at the LFSs I visit are always bright and colourful. I have male fry at the moment that have some really weird colours, they aren't dyed, I have raised them from the day they were born.

The warmer the water the brighter the guppies/livebearers will be.

Yeah I hear what your saying Vip. I am not a huge "Guppy freak" but usually give them a Gander everytime I am in the LFS. I must say I am continually amazed at some of the color morphs available these days as compared to 15 or so years ago. Its seems they are getting more intese every year!

Vip - May 2, 2005 11:12 AM (GMT)

I think I know what you're saying...

Alot of the fancies have become so...cultured, I guess you could say. Their colors are unrealistic and I personally would prefer wild guppies over fancy guppies. There are so many fancy guppy strains out there that it's practically impossible to keep up. They don't have to be imported either, there are plenty of hobbyists who trade or give their fancy guppy fry to fish stores.

You have your snakeskins/cobra guppies, delta tail, split tail, and blablabla. Way too many for my liking, lol.

I hear you Erica. I stick to snakeskins or full bodies and call it a day. I wouldn't waste my time with all these new strains, because next week, there'll be like 10 more new strains. :eatit:
