Oh, Mine is easy to located. Get a dart and throw it in the bulleye of USA map. There I am. LOL
Kansas is always ok. On the east coast you worried about hurricane. On the west coast, you worried about earthquake. In the central like Kansas, you only worried about tornado. Somehow, central is the most safer area afterall compare to all. If tornado is coming, we all get the alert in 10 to 15 minutes earlier and just go down the basement or some area bottom that is safer. Hurricane is much 100% times stronger than tornado but you can avoiding by evacuated earlier in days. But for earthquake comes, all you can do is pray for the god. jay

Rarely anything happens in Minnesota. I'm fine, but I hope the poor bettas in peoples houses during the hurrican survived. Who knows, maybe they're swimming in the ocean right now.

Not sure where you are but we in Florida definetly got hit by Hurrican Katrina ! We were the first state hit ! While damage was nothing compared to LA, AL,& MS it most certainly did some extensive damage over several counties.

sorry about you too bryan...i wish you and your family will be find .....satu....(amen)
eudielynn - September 1, 2005 01:10 PM (GMT)
That's correct, hurricanes are from the oceans and tornados on land. I live in Indiana and we get the tornados. However, we also get very heavy rains from the hurricanes. Nothing like what they have along the coast of course, but we've been under flash flood warnings for the last few days because of Katrina. It's just so sad to see the devastation and loss of life. My hubby and I were talking last night about how it makes our problems seem so trivial.
BettaMomma - September 1, 2005 02:45 PM (GMT)
Siam - thanks for asking about all of us!
I too, like yeevia, live in the midwest (or the very middle of the United States, just below Canada) so we're far away from all the devistation.
However, just a couple of weeks ago a city a few miles away from me was totally devistated by a tornado. We have to worry about those, but usually they strike very quickly and then go away again just as fast, and they only wreak havoc on a very small area.
I was watching the news last night on the whole hurricane situation, and they were interviewing random people. There were people who said they had to wade through blocks and blocks of water that was sometimes chest high. And they would see bodies go floating by them. How incredibly horrific it all must be.

Have a look at this link.
http://www.msnbc.com/modules/interactive.a...s&navid=3032127They're predicting this hurricane to have killed thousands.
That would then put it at the second deadliest ever.
Unless the numbers top 8,000 - then it will be the worst in in U.S. history.
It's pretty grave.
I also heard on the radio this morning that some people are classifiying this a worse disaster than 9-11.
50,000_tears - September 1, 2005 09:24 PM (GMT)
bettamomma/bettagoddess i there are 3 more on the way thats worse!
Karah's_Mommy - September 2, 2005 12:36 AM (GMT)
If there are 3 more hurricanes on the way that are worse than this, there will be absolutely nothing left of the southern United States. Katrina has removed entire CITIES off the face of the map. Waveland MS is GONE. Nothing left but slabs. There are several other cities nearly wiped out. The reason the death toll is so low is that many bodies have been washed out to sea with the debris. There's about a 90 mile stretch of coast line that is just gone ....... some places up to almost 6 miles inland. Not damaged ..... completely GONE. I've seen the pictures, and will be headed down that way tomorrow to see if I can get my sister out of the mess. It doesn't look near as bad unless you know what it looked like before. The casino I worked for is GONE. God have mercy on us if 3 more bigger hurricanes are coming through.

BettaMomma - September 2, 2005 04:49 AM (GMT)
It's just so horribly tragic.
They just deployed the National Guard from here in Wisconsin to go down and help out. It's the first time in history they have ever deployed them from here to go help out another state on a natural disaster.
DaSauce - Yes, I did see that man who lost his wife.
I got teary eyed listening to him. :(
I can't even begin to imagine what it must all be like.
The images we're all seeing are horrible.
bettabelieveit - September 2, 2005 05:14 AM (GMT)
It makes you want to get up and go out there and help, if that was possible, I was watching msnbc all day, and it's crazy -- everything.. people who have no food, elderly people who need oxygyn, water, meds.. ahve nothing, many more dieing because they don't have food and everything, it's all madness, something far greater than man could ever make, mother nature is very, very angry with us, folks.

eudielynn - September 2, 2005 12:49 PM (GMT)
No, hurricanes most definately hit the east coast. This one hit the southeastern part of the States, and we had five hit the east coast in Florida last year. I'm not sure how bad they are on the west coast but I hear far more about earthquakes on the western coastline.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think tornados really have anything to do with the coast. They seem to be much more common inland in the US.
I remember tornados hitting the Louisville area in the 70's and tearing up huge chunks of the city. We were without water for three days and electricity for five and I thought it was the end of the world. Can't even fathom what these poor souls are going thru.
yeeviabettas - September 2, 2005 06:03 PM (GMT)
There are a lot of airplanes carrier carries a lot of patients from New orleans to Kansas City all day long this few days. You can hear the ambulance running up and down from the airport to the hospital. Luckily Kansas City has a great hospital facilities and it can relocate the injured people here.
I went to Petco to buy some live plants and they also can help people to give donation to the victims. I donating some too.:) Oh, I talk to the petco that they are planning to sale crowntail, halfmoon, and plakat too in a few months. Oh my god! They are taking over the business? :?:
