Title: Hurricane Katrina
Description: my daughter and I are ok

Karah's_Mommy - September 2, 2005 12:22 AM (GMT)
For those that know me, I want to let you know both myself and my daughter are ok. This is the first time since the hurricane that we have power and phones. I also just found out our home is still intact, although we can't get to it. We're staying with relatives almost 4 hours inland and you wouldn't believe the destruction here from the hurricane. There are a lot of people in serious danger and in terrible conditions and if anyone can donate anything at all to the red cross or whomever, please do it. I have no idea when I'll be able to return home, they're saying it could be weeks to months before they get power and water back up. We need a lot of prayers for the people here, they're going to need it.

Hi,

My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours.

As for donations, I am running an auction at AB that all proceeds will be donated to the ARC.

I hope... all betta lover are good... have a nice days....all friend.

That's a great idea BBUSA. It's a pity that not everyone on AB is doing that or else the money toward Katrina would soar rapidly. Thanks for your efforts BBUSA. Donations and prayers are critical right now.

Well I know what it's like as I have been through Hurricane Andrew and last year we go hit by Hurrican Frances & Hurrican Jeanne 3 weeks apart !

While it's not millions like the big corps are donating, it's something. It will help me sleep at night knowing I did a little something to help our fellow man/woman out.

Yup yup. I just checked out AB (in the betta sections) and I notice there are a few who are contributing to the hurricane disaster. It sure made my day to see people who cares about strangers.

Thanks for letting us know you are alright. And your little daughter too. My prayers are with you all. If you need ANY help please ask us!

newfishies - September 2, 2005 02:19 AM (GMT)
glad to hear you are safe and sound!! best wishes and thoughts for you and your friends and family.

Saucy - September 2, 2005 03:30 AM (GMT)
We're so glad you're safe. I found out today (because I work at Petco) that there are 3 Petcos under water in Louisiana and only 1 evacuated. Then I was just watching the news... god, this is so horrible. So the next time you're at Petco, ROUND UP for the animals hit by Katrina and donate whatever you can to the ARC.

Hang in there Karah's Mommy, if you need anything, let us know. We'll come through for you.

BettaMomma - September 2, 2005 04:44 AM (GMT)
Thank goodness you're okay!!
Hang in there - at least you're safe.

And BBUSA- what a wonderful idea.
I'm going to make some scrapbooks and sell them on ebay. All the proceeds will be going to the relief fund.

bettabelieveit - September 2, 2005 05:08 AM (GMT)
the store I work at (marshalls) is taking $1 donations for the hurricane too, it's crazy how nature can be.

eudielynn - September 2, 2005 01:15 PM (GMT)
So glad you and your daughter are safe, someone in another thread was asking about you earlier. BlueBetta, thank you and I will be checking out your auction. If enough small businesses and individuals do what they can to help those dollars will mount up. BettaMomma, let us know when your scrapbooks are on.

This is so terrible, it's almost like 911 all over again. You just keep hearing more and more horror stories.

Karah's_Mommy - September 2, 2005 02:27 PM (GMT)
Thank you everyone for your prayers and offers. There are a lot more people that need more help than I do though. I have no gas or milk and little water here, but I'm far better off than most of the people involved in this. I'm worried about having water to change out my fish tanks though. My Dad and sister are both stuck in their homes on the coast with no power, water or gas, and you can't get gas anywhere, so I can't even drive down to get them supplies or gas or even bring them the generator I have here. They have gotten some bottled water and food, so they aren't in dire need of it. I'm hoping that I'll soon be able to get gas and I'll be able to get down there to bring all I can for them and others in the same situation.

OrkyBetta - September 2, 2005 03:13 PM (GMT)
I must say that if I were you, i would worry about my fish too. But the most important thing is to get it for yourself first. Maybe just do as many partial changes as you can, to keep down ammonia and such?

Never2ManyBettas - September 2, 2005 05:06 PM (GMT)
Good to hear you are ok.

With water issues.... start feeding them less. Water quality is the biggest thing... they can go awhile with out eating and still be fine. Skip days of feeding.

Good luck.... I will keep your family in my thoughts that they make it to you safely.

jols - September 2, 2005 11:56 PM (GMT)
I'm glad you're alright. :) I hope things can get better for you soon *fish-wise* I can't imagen what it's like right now for you and all the others who have it much worse. My thoughts are with you.

TacoFrano - September 3, 2005 10:41 PM (GMT)
