Title: Something is not right with the genetic.
Description: My black black black hm plakat.

yeeviabettas - September 2, 2005 06:16 PM (GMT)
I just don't know why all the babies just dead. I think I only have three or four left in the tank right now? Will check it again. All the other babies are doing fine especially siamcrowntail super red hm plakat that eat like pigs. Even the copper red hm plakat babies are doing fine too.
They all have the same setting and same enviroment. This is so weird. In my guess, it must be the genetic of the betta. This bettas is been breed down from generation. I am pumping up the female again and do the third spawn in two or three weeks.
Well, I just got two new spawns. One is the yellow metallic pair (Supposed to be the orange), and one chilli red hm female with a super red hm plakat male from another thailand breeder. The babies should be hatching tonight or early morning tomorrow. :) Wou. All my red chilli good in laying eggs. LOL
The platinum doubletail pair still not breeding yet. The female is too picky on the bubbles nest. Hopefully they breed now. :)

Sorry to hear about that, yeev. I highly doubt it was anything you did. Genetics are baffling, and maybe it was something to do with all of the odd breeding the fish have had. Better luck next time, and post pics of your new spawns!

sorry to hear that yeevia. hope you have better luck with them in the future.

with one pair of blues that i had i got dfs. disappearing fry syndrome. i have no idea why aliens would decide to transport only these to their spaceship but they did. about 3 weeks of age they would all be swimming around having a good time and next day they were all gone! big spawns too. i have no idea what happened to them. it happened three times that i tried to spawn the male. no snails in the tank, no filter except a sponge filter, dad not in the tank for a midnight snack either.

Wow, Yeevia - I'm really sorry to hear it. You must be pretty disappointed...

I wonder at what point do you need to 'out-cross' and go to a different line. Maybe they've just been too closely line-bred and are genetically problematic. I KNOW you know what you're doing... so it seems maybe that's what you should be asking.

Do you have a different black male you could use?

I'm really sorry to hear you're losing them - now you don't have anything I want, and you'll have to pay $$$CASH$$$ if you want to get some of my giants!!!

Just kidding...

Hey, I'm glad to hear the chili girls are good breeders! I'm going to put my Wasan boy in with one of them very, very soon - let's see what they come up with.

Never2ManyBettas - September 2, 2005 09:20 PM (GMT)
Bummer Frankie!! So... are you going to swap them around to see if possibly it may be more of an issue with one parent than the other?

yeeviabettas - September 3, 2005 04:25 AM (GMT)
Well, I still can see 3 or 4 babies in the tank. The father is there and I see a lot dead one decomposed at the bottom and that is mean the father didn't eat them. This is the second batch if you all like to know. Same like Galaxies too. The galaxies second spawns with a different female green mask also do the same thing. I only have a few babies in the raising tank so it is better than nothing. LOL As Dong has mentioned earlier, I think it must have do with the genetic.
Siamcrowntail super red plakat pair babies are doing fine. They all eat like pigs and always stay on the top of the water. Even the copper red plakat pairs babies also doing very well. My red chillies crossing red halfmoon also doing great too and eating healthy.
It is ok, I will breed again and see how it goes again.
Ohhh, I want to breed galaxies male to my red chilli female.:) LOL I will see how good the babies going to be. :) I got too many red chilli hm females wants to lay eggs anyway. LOL Very easy they laid eggs since they all been baby seat by the father too.
Justhal! You need to breed the red chilli females I gave you with wasan male! Hurry!!! They are ready. The smaller female the better change they hatch. :) You will get really good red babies for sure. :)

Yeah, I'm going to - probably this weekend.

My Wasan male was sick, remember? ...water problems with not letting the IAL age long enough. I wanted to give him a chance to feel better and let his fins grow back some. He's looking very feisty again.

They'll have very nice babies! My chili girls are getting really good color and have grown some too.

I told you they are more solid hot red if you put them in individual tank. They love to breed and fertilized like crazy. You might get 100% hatching. LOL
I am waiting to see the eggs hatch soon. The male is totally fertile and so do the red chilli girl. I crossed my red chilli hm female with a super red shock hm plakat male. :) should be good. :drool1:

That sucks. I'd have loved to see those babies.

Oh no Yeevia!! That's so sad. Were these your black black copper shimmers??? I hope your next try fairs better results, b/c they are gorgeous fish and would produce some gorgeous babies...and i wanted a pair. lol

Seriously though, i hope the next try works out for you. :)
