Title: On His Way Out
Description: Nooooooo

I don’t think Ekaitz will make it. He’s so bloated now he’s pine coning. I put in a ton of Episom salt in there with him in hopes it would help. He’s been through two of the four treatments of Triple Sulfa with no results.
I’ve tried three different meds now. Nothings working. I think he’s going to die. Maybe tonight.
;_; Poor Ekaitz.
I got the triple sulfa because it said right on the package it was intended for what I wanted to treat. Should I have gotten the other stuff? Did I do bad with the triple sulfa??

usually you use a higher concentration of epsom salt in water and use it as a dip. Putting enough in the tank to be effective should not be used long term. I'm afraid that with dropsy sometimes there is diddly squat you can do. Just mae him comfortable. Have you been feeding him peas? That helps with the bloat.

If he has dropsy, nothing will really help him. His kidneys have failed and fluid is building up anyways. I'd just make him comfortable... I read somewhere that massive doses of Maracyn could help if you catch it early enough, but if his kidneys have already failed, there's nothing you can do.
I'm hoping that it's not dropsy...

Oooh that sucks :(
If he's pineconing I'm afraid he does have dropsy.
And that's true, there's pretty much nothing you can do for him at this point. I'm sorry. I just lost a little boy to it - the first case of it at my house. And it sucks.
Hang in there. I'm sorry.
Roberto - pineconing is when a fish's scales start to stick straight out, making it look like a pinecone - from fluid buildup in the body. Dropsy is the term that's used when a fish's organs aren't able to keep up with expelling the fluids from its body, therefore it begins to swell up and the scales start to stick out. Usually the organs shut down because of an infection or illness of some sort and then the swelling starts.

Yeah. Gonna change his water tonight, medicate it anyway, and put stress coat in there instead of the regualr dechlor to maybe make him feel a little better. I'll put some BWE in there too (it's like IAL).
I talked to him and he swam around a little bit.
The more I think about it the worse I feel. I really love Ekaitz. I've always treated him special.
;_;
Edit: I think I feel so bad is because I can't comfort him in any significant way. Dogs can cats you can hold if they're in pain and make them feel better. I can't do that with the fish and I always feel like they die alone, even here with me.
