Title: I got outbid...grrr...
Description: lol
MLH Fish - September 11, 2005 02:26 AM (GMT)
Okay, i got outbid on the last auction i was waiting to finish...no worries. I really liked the pastel plakat, but i decided not to do the bid war thing. lol Instead i found another plakat (well pair actually), a copper/gold beauty and bid on that instead. lol That one still has 3 days left on it...so we'll see if i get this one. I'm willing to fight for this one though b/c i've wanted this color for a long time and usually the auctions went up too high (like the reserve price was set around $40)...but now i have a little more money and can afford a luxury like that. lol So....hopefully by Thursday or Friday i should have the 4 fish i did win(mailing money order on Monday and it will probably take a few days to get there, but the fish are being shipped overnight)and will post pic's of them after they are settled in. :)
Now i have to go clean my room, again, b/c the divided tank that is waiting for 2 of the 4 plakats is blocked by a bunch of junk. lol Can't wait til i move into that larger bedroom. lol

Doesn't Dig have like ALOT of pastels pair left? If you're still interested you could try and email him and work out a price to your advantage.

BettasRFriends: Yeah, he does have more available...but after i saw i was outbid, i decided before i did the whole bid sniping thing i'd check out some other auctions in case i missed something...which i did. I don't know how i missed it, since i've been looking for a copper/gold plakat for a while now...but i did.
So i bid on a different fish instead. lol
Dig's got some awesome fish, he's a regular on a mailing list/discussion group i belong to so i've been seeing pic's of his fish for a while now, but i already won 4 of his fish...so i decided i'd just look around. Now i have to patiently wait for 3 days and hope i win this fish...he's sooo gorgeous. :) And of course i'm sure he'll have more up for auction in the future.

His bettas are truly beautiful with HMPK traits (which I adore) but I prefer anything that's not like-bodied unless it's to the extreme case. The copper/gold that you're talking about, I believe I know which one that is. He sure is a beauty so don't let him get out of your grasp

MLH - if you got two pair from the same spawn, that's probably PLENTY! unless you're looking to line breed his stuff. Don't be too disappointed...
Good luck with the other fish! Can I give you a tip? There's no point in bidding early - it just gives someone else the chance to outbid you at the last minute. Sometimes the breeder or his friends might even drive up the price on you. I NEVER bid on anything (e-Bay or aquabid) until a few minutes before the auction ends, then bump it up by numbers that are slightly off - instead of bidding $25, I might bid $27.25.

If you can, use proxy bids :)
BettasRFriends - September 11, 2005 03:10 PM (GMT)
Justal - I know what you mean by that. The seller's friends would try and raise up the price and lure you to follow. I hate it when that happens so that's why I always bid at the last minute or just go ahead and buy it without bidding.
OohFeeshy - What are proxy bids?
semper fi - September 11, 2005 04:02 PM (GMT)
proxy bids are where you put a cap on how high you will go. if someone bids on the fish and they don't meet your cap, the amount will be increased to whatever the proxy was set at above the other persons bid. it raises your bid, but as long as noone goes over your cap, you are still the winning bidder.

Justhal, that's what i usually do...but i didn't really pay attention to when the auction ended...i thought i was still on the first page so i thought it was ending soon. lol I checked out the payment options and how much it was for shipping and that the seller was in the us....but then forgot to look when the auction ended. lol
But i usually do bid when it only has like an hour or so left. I learned on Ebay a looonnnggg time ago how to bid snipe. lol Only way you can win the antique fishing lures auctions. lol :)
