by "gudeons" do you mean Gudgeons? Cause if you do, there are quite a few different species in the hobby, but i dought many really big enough for compatability with oscars and chiclids! Anyone else?

I had some purple spotted gudgeons. These were native to Australia. I think they could hold their own with cichlids like oscars, but im not sure about cichlids that tend to be more aggressive.

A full grown oscar would eat a PSG IMO.
As for types of gudgeons, there are
Peacocks
All of the mogurnda genus
Emperors
and sleeper gobies :D
I keep a M. clivicola with an Uaru, severum, Surinam geo, and two rainbow cichlids ATM, and I have 2 peacocks in a different tank with a few keyholes :)

This sleeper goby of mine could hold its own.
It is a eleotris vitatta or more commonly known as a cow goby.
It is a preditor and is capable of eating a 3.5" rainbow cichlid whole.
This one is around 10" in size. The size does not include the fishes tail.

I have a couple peacock gudgeons and they hold their own with rainbows. not to sure about oscars though.

I got Peacock Guddies too, and although they are still fairly small, I don't think they would ever stand up to an Oscar.
These little poppits don't get very big, and although they are fast and sensible, they are not that fast and sensible.
Mind you, they do live with a Pisto Agassizi, and that is all good.

Peacock gudgeons can hold their own with any fish that can't eat them, these little gudgeons think that they are always the bigger fish, although that may be bad with aggressive dwarf cichlids in the tank
