Title: ADF question
Description: Shedding skin?

Here's hoping Saucy or one of you who has ADF's can answer a question for me. I had a small problem with fungus on one of my fish a few weeks ago. A day or so later I noticed a small bit on one of my frogs. I put them in quarantine (seperately) and treated them with Maracyn 2. Both cleared up nicely and are back into my 20g.

Last night I was watching the fish and suddenly one of my frogs came shooting up out of nowhere, kicking and squirming. She had what looked like a film covering her and as she kicked and squirmed, the film peeled off her and she kicked out of it. Then she started moving normally and ate her bloodworms a few minutes later. It didn't really look like fungus and it broke up into tiny bits once it was free floating in the water.

I believe I have read somewhere that frogs will shed skin from time to time, but I'm not sure. I guess I just need some reassurance that this was normal. Do I have anything to worry about?

Thanks for any help.

Sounds totally normal to me. :)

Some will even eat the skin they have shed...i know the newts i had used to do that.

Sounds like a healthy, growing dwarf frog to me. :)

Thanks MLH! Whew! I know I'm a worrywart with my babies. I've really grown attached to them and I am always afraid I'm doing something wrong with them. I've had them for over 6 months now so I guess I'm not doing too bad.

Hah, it's all good Eudie. Squirming is A-OK. You may actually see them "yawn" too. Just trying to crack the skin to get it off. No worries. And I'm so glad Mr. Frog made it through!!
