Title: I am going to be a mommy...
Description: joy.

I recently rescued 2 female guppies from my lfs, they were in a feeder tank, and near death. They were the only two left ALIVE in the tank and so I bought them, and added them to the mini tank I set up for the female I already had (she was sold to me as a male, poor thing, I didn't know she was in my all male tank until I saw fry being eaten alive, and hunt and pecked for the female in the tank.

So I have three females, and I noticed, all three of them have gravid spots. I'm going to be a mommy! But uhh. I have NO plans! I have never raised a single spawn, what can I do? I don't want to let the fry get eaten, but I don't know if I can raise the fry, then sell them to the horrible LFSs around...

you sure are going to have alot of live young on your hands..Do you have a tank they could go in?

Congatulations on the expected fry. To ensure fry are kept alive and not eaten you could buy a breeding net or a guppy breeding trap. Because the fry are born quite large you can feed them crushed fish flakes. Good luck.

It sounds like it is time to make a decision, sell the fry or let nature take it's course. I would check with your LFS to see if they are even interested in buying them, if not it might just be best if you just let the mommas have a nutritious snack.

Having a gravid spot doesn't always mean that the fish is pregnant, but with livebearers if a female has ever been in the tank with males it is best to consider her pg, a female can store sperm for 3 months and can have more than one batch of fry with a single insemination. It can be a depressing thought if you aren't prepaired for being overrun with fry.

If you decide that you can't sell the fry but you want a few to survive you can use Java moss, duckweed and other bushy or floating plants for the fry to hide in.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
