Wow dude looks like you really out did yourself...nice pics! Looks like you got a number of really nice corals in your tank. Thanks for sharing them with us :woo: .

Looking at the pics I noticed that you have some apitasia. Is that the only one or is there more of the little buggers?

mr_miagi32 - November 7, 2005 08:48 AM (GMT)
Theres more... :bitchslap: I heard Warm Vinegar does the trick? Ive got some suringes. :guns:

quick reading leads me to believe peppermint shrimp whipes them out

i have the buggers too, are they bad or just an annoyance?

Ritsuko Nashida - November 9, 2005 04:37 AM (GMT)
Mr Miaggi

Pepermint shrimp, Copperbanded Butterfly and one vareity of Nudi' will handle the problem for you more times than not. I really dont recommend the CBB as they are difficult to get feeding on a regular basis and dont always fair well in captivity. I use them only in live rock vats to make sure customers dont get apitasia from ME! Went through several before getting a couple that worked out well for me. The problem with Nudis is that thier diets are som specific that once the apitasia are gone they usually die and have a tendency to crash a tank as they release toxis when they are seriously stressed or die. Pepermint Shrimp are the best natrual control of these guys. As far as using a syringe if your diligent for a few months and dont have too many and keep a close eye on things you can do 'em in. The best results I have found come from mixing a heavy "slurry" of Kalkwasser and slowly injecting it above the anenome to allow it to engest a healthy amount. This is usually quiet fatal and pretty dang effective in no uncertain terms, at list more so than Vineger which will negatively effect your Ph levels for a day or two after each round of use, and Lime Juice too.

HTH's you out a bit.....

mr_miagi32 - November 9, 2005 05:17 AM (GMT)
Thanks RIts. Ive got quite a few todday with my syringe and vinegar. They shrunk so ill keep an eye out for re-amergers. :drunk:

Ritsuko Nashida - November 9, 2005 05:26 AM (GMT)
More times than not if you got one....there are a whole bunch tiny off spring in nooks and crannies of the rock that you havent seen yet. If you stay on 'em though you can win the war of attrition though. This is one reason I usually always have at least one Pepermint Shrimp pulling "yeoman duty" in my tanks.

Gotta give you props my friend...thats a fantastic looking tank you got!

mr_miagi32 - November 9, 2005 05:34 AM (GMT)
Thanks Ritsuko! :thanks: I have a long way to go though. Im gonna stock it with more inverts that can be propagated soon! :D

The trouble is, i have a CBS, so wont that and the pepermint fight?

A CBB will not fit in my tank either! SO its the syringe for me! :D

Yeah, i have noticed alot of babies, but im picking them off slowly. Im not that keen to anihilate them strate off, ill just 'control' them.

xXMrBonesXx - November 10, 2005 01:01 AM (GMT)
get your peppermint shrimp and dress him like rambo and let him loose... film it and you'll make tons of money

mr_miagi32 - November 10, 2005 01:18 AM (GMT)

Salt freak - November 10, 2005 01:41 AM (GMT)
What kind of lights do you have on the tank

mr_miagi32 - November 10, 2005 02:26 AM (GMT)
2x 30W Actinics
2x 30W 6700K Marine_Glo. (Will replace these for a better brand when due for the change)
