Title: Microworms
Description: Anyone Feed Them to Their Fry?

Hey everyone,
I finally got off my cheap ass and bought a decent breeding trap. It's made by Penn Plax and connects to an air tube to circulate the water. Anyway my purchase finally paid off. My female guppy looked a little overweight to me the other nite so I placed her in the trap. To my amazement yesterday morning I was a mommy to about 30 fry:) I'm so excited. The only fry I had ever seen in my tank was one little molly baby months ago who got eaten. Anyhow, a co-worker of mine, who happens to be a fish fanatic, gave me a sample of these microworms she grows to feed to her fry and she's had a lot of success with them. Anyone else ever try them? Mine are still waiting to grow so I am feeding my fry crushed up flakes for now.
I've posted a pic of the babies, but it's really hard to pic them out:P

I feed Micro worms and live brine shrimp and mosquito larve, as well as daphnia, and flightless fruit flies to my killies and to my guppy fry and adults. My fish are healthier, happier, and have the most stunning color. I would recommend the live foods (or frozen if convenience is a factor) hands down. not to mention, what do you think they eat in the wild... FLAKE FOOD????? uh huh!
LOL!

Im still lookin for a starter culture!!!
I blame my fry losses mainly on nutrition, i only have fry flake food. Some of my fry are almost 3 times the size of the others, considering i religiously maintain my fry tank im certain some of the fry just aren't enticed to the flakes. :green:
Getting a brine shrimp hatcher going this week so hopefully that might bring some of the runts up to size. jay

I had microworms, but I think they got overun with yeast and died out... :?: Which smelt awful. The strongest smell of vegemite alive.
I'm trying to revive one of the smelly yeast pots, but it doesn't seem to be happening. Better luck net time.

lol yeah it sure is smelly! My yeast tubs dried up as well and I ended up having to throw them out. I forgot about having to change it. Right now I have 6 fry left. I gave away about 15-20 to a co-worker and I was left with 8 and 2 died. Right now I'm feeding them Liquifry Livebearer flakes and they seem to go for it.

i feed my fry hardboiled egg yolk that is diluted and crushed up with a bit of water
than i take a toothpick and dip it in the mixture and put some in the tank
it is arguably one of the best foods since its full of protein which is easely diegested.
:D:D
try it once
dont know about microworms (tried them a few times with my gupies) since some ended up on botom of tank and died and crapped up my water but try the egg yolk sometimes
it works wonders :boxer:
