i want to know some information about rainbow shark. if someone can help me with a website. i want to know it stays hiding behind the filter does it needs hiding places.

They will normally lay claim to somewhere that they make their own. It can be an ornament or any nook or cranny that takes their fancy. In your case, it chose behind the filter. This is perfectly normal as long as it is healthy and not being picked on.

My rainbow shark liked my shipwreck and my pleco liked my conch shell but they would swap places from time to time!

Your rainbow shark needs a cave or two or just a clump of plastic plants. IME rainbow sharks aren't that shy, mine is quite active...and loves to piss off my other fish.

Just what ever you do...DONT GET ANOTHER!! Rainbow sharks HATE eachother when they are adults. It's like putting two male bettas in the same bowl. Don't get anything that looks like them either.

i have my rainbow shark in the aquarium but the main problem is he stays hiding behind the filter he isnt even eating the flakes that i am putting them the other fish eat them before he even shows. i am affraid that he may die if he doesnt eat. i wont to know also if they grow fast like oscars. i need to know how many cm do they grow per month if somebody has any information.

Give him a hiding place he might be to stressed to eat... Feed him live blackworms, freeze dried tubifex, or a alage tablet if he dosen't eat.

As for the size...IME they grow very slowly. VERY slowly. I've had mine for 5 months now and he really hasn't grown much. But mines the white finned type...I don't know if that effects his growth.

I would say they should grow maybe 5mm a month. They don't grow that big so it isn't something I have ever monitored really. What are the tank mates he is in with? Tank size? They will always find somewhere to hang out and lay claim to, if there is nowhere else then it will just be somewhere you don't want him to hide like the filter. What are its colours like? If it is looking very pale then it is a sure sign it is stressed out.

My Redtailed Black Shark (which is a close relative) is a picky eater. Nothing but frozen bloodworms. Occasionally nibble on flakes but usually spits them out. Other then that, he's quite active, usually swimming around the bogwood or picking at bits of algae on my floating plants.

They need a good hiding place to claim as their own. A piece of wood, a cave, some kind of decoration should work fine but with out one, they do get stressed and even more aggressive with other fish.

paul, once again i have merged your 2 threads as they were about the same question. this is becoming quite a habit with you and i would appreciate it if you would knock it off. don't post multiple threads about the same thing over and over. post it once and give people time to respond to your questions.
