Could somebody please tell me why my femaleM.AURATUS has changed colour to match the male?
she is sulking all the time
doesn't want to eat
generally looking depressed
:wtf: is happening?
IS SHE PREGNANT?
I have moved her into a tank on her own now,is this wise?

If it's a female she will have a buldge in her throat. They carry their eggs in their mouth. Just look close you will see little flesh colored eggs in her mouth. If she's pregnant that is. If not probably just a male that went subdominant on you.

Wasnt mature, im pretty sure they all start off as females then decide later on what they want to be, looks like your one just took longer to decide on what it wanted to be.
Mine changed a couple of times I think before it stayed as a female.

Remember in teh wild female mbuna will take on male color to try to protect thier fry while they are still in the mouth.
Could be male, could be a female who has decided she doesn't like her choice of a mate?
