Scientific Name- Tetraodon Nigroveridis
Common names- Green spotted puffer (gsp), spotted puffer. NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH "Green Puffer" or "Leopard Puffer"
Size- up to around 6" in aquariums, usually a little smaller
Origin- Asia
Water type- may be kept in freshwater as young specimens, but brackish to marine as they develop, hard and alkaline
Food- like most puffers, a varied diet of shellfish like shrimp and prawns, clams, bloodworms, krill, snails, etc.
Sexing- no discernable difference
Breeding- done in brackish water, eggs are laid in substrate and guarded by the male.
Compatibility- not too aggressive like some other puffer species. They are often kept together, with Ceylon puffers, and with other large brackish species like monos and scats. Anything smaller I would be wary as they may see them as prey.
