Hi to you all from 'ecky'
I am a new member and new to this hobby.
I have been given 1 small tank and 2 large tanks also a heater and pump/filter unit.
No fish as of yet. I have filled the small tank with tap water and heated it to 29c ..thats what the heater was set at.
I can't find a site on the web that specifes the correct temp' for tropical fish.
Can you please advise on the correct temp for a tank for tropical fish.

Welcome to tropical fish chat Ecky. The Ideal temp for most tropical fish is between 76 and 80 degrees F. I keep all my tanks at 78 degrees F.

29degrees celcius I THINK is around 78-79F
That's your ideal temperature

The temperature of the tank really depends on the fish you will be keeping.
Have you thought about what kind of fish you would like?
29C is 84F, and way to hot - 26 or 27C would be more appropriate.

Hi there, I keep my tropical tanks at 26.5C but like someone else suggested it depends what kind of fish you want to keep. I too am fairly new to the hobby but have found it very rewarding, if i listen to the right advice!! Well good luck take care. Angel

It does depend on what you want to keep. :)
My tanks are set at 26 (78.8F), but are right now at about 30 (86F) 'cause it's been hot the last few days. :banghead:
Have a look around at fish profiles online and then you can come back here for advice on the species you're interested in. ;)
