FBG - January 25, 2006 06:44 PM (GMT)
i bought dwarf hair grass a few weeks ago and was told it grows nicly in high light aquariums. i have it on the side the sun hits every afternoon and is growing verry fast, but was wondering if it is bad for the aquarium? i also have rotela indica (most likly didnt spell it right) in the corner blocking the UG filter tube.

is it a good idea?

As long as your tank doesn't overheat in the summer it should be ok, you might experience some extra alge growth in the direct sun.
What part of AZ are you in?

I have hitchhiked through in the past and noticed a major difference in temp between the mountian vs low desert areas. Sweat to death in Phoenix but it wasn't so bad in Flagstaf  .

As Dtroup touched on, you will experience more algae growth than normal. Thats easy to keep under control with some snails or a small Oto or CAE. I would trim your other plant if your UGF is the only thing filtering your tank. If you have another filter, i wouldnt bother removnig the plant. :)
