Title: Peguin Bio-Wheel 100
Description: Wheel Won't turn

Gen1Performance - February 7, 2006 12:31 AM (GMT)
Ok I've got a Bio-Wheel 100 filter & the wheel itself hardly turns & it's pretty loud when I'm trying to sleep & the tank is right across from my bed. Anyone else have this trouble and/or know what I can do to help it. If I can't get it fixed I'm just gonna replace it with another brand. Thanks for any input.

How long have you had the filter system? I would check the bearings on your wheel. I would also suggest taking the entire system apart and seeing if there is anything wrapped around the metal shaft for the properllor(sp.). I had a Penguin that did that I had found a piece of hair got wrapped around the metal shaft.

good advice from tropicalfish.

have you checked to make sure there's no gunk clogging up the bearings? if there is you might want to try cleaning them up. as for the noise, you can make sure you tank water level is up to the output of the filter so that the water won't drop down into the tank causing the waterfall noise. you'll still here a little bit of water noise though from the bio wheel.
