well, around april we have to get a hotel and move all the pets because the house is going to be sprayed with bugs. do i have to move my fish. if so what is the best way of doing this. and how much will it stress them out?
can i just cover the tank? do i need to sneak them into the hotel? i already have two mice, and a 6 lb rabbit i have to sneak into the hotel!
i want whats best for the fish

I think you are best off talking to the spraying company.

I would think you should just tape off your aquarium(s) with plastic covers, and leave them on for a few days following the move.
Let's see what others suggest. :)

I would ask the company doing the spraying about it.
A lot depends on the chemicals they are going to use. If they are reccomending that you leave the house then you might consider taking the fish with you.
Are they going to fog the house or just spray the baseboards and walls? If they are fogging the fish definatly need to be gone with you.
When my hubby insists on using fly spray in the house I just cover the tank and air pump and they are fine but since it's being professionally done the chemicals will probably be much stronger.

If they suggest removing the fish remember to take all the "props" with you because if you were to dip a contaminated net into the tank it could be a disaster.

Good luck!

Ps. What kind of bugs are they spraying for?
Roaches can be killed with saucers of cola, they can't pass gas so their insides explode and all you gotta do is sweep them up. Hedge Apples will keep most other bugs away.

mainly roaches.
if it was up to me i would do something natural. but its not my house. in the past we have used serval sprays, poweders and glue traps with not much sucess so i dont think they would go for something like cola

i just talked to them about it. they said they will try it but then insisted on still spraying.

Actually, the sweetness of the cola attracts them, we used to use it in the coffee shop and it's common in bars too.
Too bad the owners won't let you go natural, bummer.

Thanks for the idea dtroup. I never thought about using cola before. I'll have to try it in our place. :P

If teh exterminator does come you will more than likely need to move your fish.

When you use soda(pop) for roaches you need to put out fresh daily, it only works before it goes flat. We used to put it out at night, it also works on most rodents. In the southwest where you don't get a "hard freeze" in the winter it is almost impossible to keep the roaches out so you get to the point where you will try anything.
