I just got a betta on monday because I remembered how much I liked my as a child. The man a t the pet store recommended this tropical fish food (especially for bettas), but Duncan (my fish) wont eat it. I know he is hungry because when I have tried to feed him he eat the food. Well he bites it, chews on it for about 20 seconds and then spits it out. Does he just not like it or is he sick? What should I feed him instead. Please help soon. I don't want him to starve to death.
Thanks
What kind of food is it, is it what he was fed at the store?
Sometimes bettas can be finiky eaters and will prefer one brand over another.
He won't starve in just a few days but you might want to try another brand of food. He may also just be getting used to his new home which can sometimes take a few days.
Try other foods. Hikari frozen bloodworms are good. Many...( especially the imports it seems) really like live daphnia. Grindal worms and white worms are well liked too.
don't feed him for a few days.. don't even put food in the tank/bowl he's in.
Give him maybe 4 days straight with no foods let him get used to his new environment...
