Title: broussonetti?

fishplay - February 28, 2006 08:04 PM (GMT)
Hi, was wondering if anyone has had a dragon fish? Thats what the store said it was called when I got it. Now after searching the net I am coming up with a Gobioides broussonetti or violet goby. Does anyone know anything about them. The one site I was at said they are brackish water fish. The store had them in freshwater. Looking for more information, if anyone knows, please post. Thanks...

Could you post a pic so that I can figure out which dragonfish I'm looking for?

Is this him?

I have found all the information that I need after doing several searches. I guess it is a violet goby/ dragon goby/ dragon fish. Anyway, they can live in freshwater, but do better in brackish conditions. So, I am slowly going to switch the tank over to brackish. The site you posted is correct. That is what I have. Last night I wasn't sure if the store had him brackish or freshwater. But, I tested the water in his bag for salt and he is in freshwater. I don't understand why the store is putting these fish in freshwater conditions. They had brackish tanks there and even tankmates that are suppose to go good with them there. So, I don't get it. But whatever, everything I read on them says brackish water. So, thats what I will do...

Sounds like a plan to me. Glad you found the info you needed, and good luck!
