do you keep any type of sucking catfish with your sharks? plecs or anything?

Oddball - April 26, 2005 11:26 AM (GMT)
I'm not wayne but ive kept a few plecos with my RTBS and pangasius catfish, also kept big doradids such as the striped and megaladoras. Kept Big clown loach in with it but im not sure whether they would go well with a black shark

Oddball - April 26, 2005 11:28 AM (GMT)
common pleco, gibbicep, starry night, bulldog, peckolita taparas (the taparas kicked seven layers of hell outta the RTBS by the way) Just thought yopu'd wanna know the types, and yes i was really too lazy to edit my previous post :D

hmmm, your are lazy lol

i just want some cheap things like bnose plecs i suppose, the tanks just gets alot of brown crap on the glass that gets thick, the black sharks are suckers but they dont eat that brown shit

Nor do plecos as such, they disturb itso that the filter pulls it up, regular gravel vacing is your best bet, or is this to try and AVOID gravel vaccing? :D

nothing really to vac dude its a bare bottom tank and the filters get all the crap its just the glass that gets pretty bad

Sorry for the late response ive not been online for a few days, yeah i keep plecs with my Black sharks the sharks tend to ignore them as there not shark shaped and/or not a threat to them the only time my big shark shows any aggression to them is when the lights go off and its feeding time but they have fairly tough skin and can handle a few rasps.Ive also kept CAE,S with him but he did kill that as it got to around 7in but then its not recomended to keep CAE,S with big fish as there said the attach themselves to the fish,s side removing the slime layer. As others have already said though these plecs arnt that good at removing alge realy so i would suggest Flying fox and Siamese flying fox as an alternative.

Only the siamese flying fox is any good at eating algae, the false ones arent much good at it! Though i do have a soft spot for the foxys, they wouldnt last too long if the shark did take a dislike to them....
