hello everyone
this story started a week or so ago
one day before I left for school i noticed one of my angelfish biting the other
they had done this before so I though nothing of it
however, when I got back, my pure black angelfish was missing good chunks out of all its fins.
I imediatly moved the fish to my plant multiplying tank where it would be alone and could heal
i have been observing it and the fish now spends alot of its time swiming to one side
like this / or like this \ but mostly like this /
i am not sure but i dont remember it doing that before
is it stress or inujury related??? or is it normal angelfish behavior
by the way my new tank has so far seen the demise of 3 guppies so now I am removing them to their own tank so they can leave in peace :rip: btw the tank is looking realy nice and I am thinking of entering AOTM next month or maybe May =) it has realy come a long way :offtopic:
doesn't sound like normal behavior to me. are the wounds healing or what? i would use some melafix in a hospital tank.
A little melafix, and a lot of water changes. I've dealt with plenty of torn up angels, some missing over half the fins, swollen eyes, torn out scales, you name it. Daily 50% water changes heal them faster then anything.
The tilted swimming ciuld be stress related, or could be the symptoms of an internal injury. Time will tell in that respect.
thanks iv changet the water twice withing a week and a half
will do more often now
i ran out of melafix so i will have to buy some
fins are healing good
any idea if scales will regrow
she/he was a beautifull full black angel untill the other left a few silver spots on him
btw any way to tell gender between male and female angels?
thanks
Depending on the size of them, usually males will have a larger head bulge, where as females more pointed of a nose:
FEMALE ANGELFISH... Note the pointed look of her face
MALE ANGELFISH... Note the larger more pronounced forehead
mine are littler guys or girls or both or whatever
lol
il go look now
i think theyr both males :dunno:
after they grow a bit more i think il know
