and this

been almost 9 months since the tank has been set up and now its realy starting to look good (in my opinion of course. I found a perfect? piece of driftwood and adde it to the tnak after a week of soaking and changing water in the 2nd bathtub. My angels have gotten pretty big and so have the barbs and especially the gouramis. Unfortunately Red Death (my 4 inch at the end red swordtail) passed away at the tender age of 5 and a half years. Anyways all my fish are doing well especialy the blackskirts and my dojo. I got a pair of clown loaches which i cannot sex. One is almost constantly hiding and the black stripes on him are loosing their vividness. The other is out and about exploring. Im thinking ut finding some pure red swordtails (dark blood red) but all I find is always orangey or has black tail or is koi sword. I ould also like pure white (seethrough) with green stripes runing horizontaly on the body ( in bulgaria we called them Canadian swords) or maybe green ones. I am thinking about colonizing my tank with some dwarf grass and maybe adding 2-3 more big echinodorus and a few imnofilas. I know the plants are like from 2 totaly different parts of the world but they like similar conditions and seem to work quite well. Im going to try and get an offshoot from my Yellow Amazon Sword and get my anubias to bloom =).
All in all, the tank is shaping up great. In the pic you can see one of my angels and how much it has grown.

those angels are truly ANGELS....... so angelic..

in that last photo, what are those certificates on the wall?

<cich1>play nice Youth.

Hristaky - June 23, 2007 02:07 PM (GMT)
to answer the question about the certificates, they are mine for playing in music festival, two 2nd places and one 1st all with first class honors (over 85% mark)
im in grade 12 piano

mmmmkay. It has been a while since this was updated so heres the low down on the tank for the past cople months. First my tank was hit by a terrible ich epidemic when i left for new york for a 14 days and left an idiot (not the one that starved the tank before) to take care of it. He calls me and is like there is white spots on ur fish. I was like ok. Go to the heater and turn the temp to 30, look for the salt and add one half the full dose. So what does he do? Adds double the full dose and turn the heater down to 20 of course. The logical thing to do.
So I get back, my fish are shivering, are covered in ich from mouth to tail (every single fish!) and there slowly turning into that dried salted cod you can buy at the store :bash:
So anyways, i lost 4 fish from that. My two angels and my two pictus catfish. Now, I was hit by an epidemic of body fungus. I know it came from the water because when I got fishing I sometimes pull out fish with body fungus on them (I know its actuallu columnaris bacteria). So anyways, there was no freakin way I was treating a whole 75g tank whch would cost me in the order of about 400$ for meds. I put all my fish in a 10g bare hospital with all the plants remaining and some hiding spots for the loaches and everyone. I figured I might as well treat them all, clean out the entire tank and start fresh. So anyways I only lost my spoted dojo(weather loach) which I dearly love and will go out and buy a new one when I find some :bye: :rip: . The tank is now set up and contains 3 amazing plants which have managed to survive. An anubia nana, echinodorus ruse and another echinodorus but im not sure which one. Its the one that makes yellow leaves. During this ordeal I lost another fish (my 2 inch male rosy barb). But now all the fish are very very happy. I monitor all the chemicals daily since my 100 or so test strips left will be past their date in about 2 months. My plans now are to restock the aquarium slowly. First il add all the plants and let them grow into a massive jungle. Then im going to add some angels again, a weather loach, a male rosy barb, some long finned danio, 2 clown loaches, maybe some neon tetras or some rasboras or anything that I find schools nice and has good colours to contrast from my black skirts which are almost 2 inches now. I would also like to add a group of about 10 cory cats and maybe a largish pleco (because my fish like to harass smaller plecos). Would post current pic but compared to what it was before, its not realy worth it.

now you see why idiots, familly member (even supposedly well trained fish keeping familly members) should not be left in charge of your fish!

after my last incident of when i was away, my friends refuse to look after them as my polypterus bit and held on to my unfortunate friend, apparently he was looking for my striped dora that hed seen me play with and wanted to hear it gurn, serves him right really!

im amazed that so many fish actually survived the first incident, it wold be like instant dehydrationfor a fish having that added to its tank!

But your going about it the right way in restocking and i commend the level head in how you treated them, most people would panic and make the situation worse

Wow, that's a tough story. Sorry for the loss of your friends. Glad you were able to save a few though. Un-questionably due to your level head. Most people would just freak you know. Good job! Forgive and forget I guess is the rule for that guy but still, whack 'em on the head once for me.
