cool bro. hey what's up with the eye on the red one?

Seedy - April 12, 2006 10:16 PM (GMT)
It's been scarred up since I got him. I think it got injured when he was a fry.... He was actually a "freebie" from the store...One of my favorite fish now...

what kinda camera have you got there seedy? you've taken great shots!

Wolfie - May 12, 2006 06:47 AM (GMT)
how'd you get them to sit still? i have a Aulonocara maleri (Sunshine Peacock) and cant get the bugger to sit still long enough to take pictures! :YELL:

:kewl:

Seedy - May 13, 2006 07:36 AM (GMT)
Sloory, the camera is a Sony DSC-S85. It's a digitial still camera 4.1 megapixel, It has a 6x optical zoom.

Wolfie,

I use a flash to stop the action. I don't mess with apeture or fstops or any of that...however I do use the manual focus. I know that when I use the flash, it will increase the shutter speed, helping to stop the action...

For some hardcore aquatic photography advice, I would suggest you contact "Finz" who is a member of both Cichlid-forums.com as well as Cichlidforums.com. He is a professional photographer, whos pictures you have probably seen in many a hoby magazine. (I don't like advertising other forums here, but this man is such a great reference, I can't help but tell you how to get in touch with him.)

Also, Glaive (one of our admin here) is quite knowelgeable in photography and I sure could give you some great suggestions.

awesome, with the pics i have posted the only way i could was getting them at like 4am when they're all asleep...then taking like 70 pictures and get like 5 or 6 decent ones. Awesome images though, and i'll contact finz on c-f.com though anyone else notice if you dont post in a few weeks you need to reactivate account? whats the deal with that?

BTW what specy peacock is that red one? malawi? its awesome!

You are getting some excellent shots Seedy. Are you muting your flash with anything, or are you just going off angle to the glass?

Seedy - May 14, 2006 12:56 AM (GMT)
Glaive, no muting/covering, just working at an angle, and If I do get glare, I tend to crop it out or give it a little "smudge"...

Sloory...I'm not an active member of the hyphenated cichlid forums, so I couldn't tell you.

The red one is a line bred strain called "Eureka Red"...It's suspected to be line bred from A. jacobfreebergei "otter point"....

glaive - May 14, 2006 08:03 PM (GMT)
I don't have that problem sloory, however I have been a member there for years. I would honestly suggest the other big cichlid site Finz can be found there. IF anything I'll ask Finz if I can post a link to his site over here.

Sloory - May 16, 2006 12:17 PM (GMT)
Um, i didn't ask most of these questions that are being answered to me
