Title: Sloorys Planted Tank..
Description: and one day tankzzzz

Sloory - April 27, 2006 07:45 PM (GMT)
G'day, my planted tank has just been set up. it still cycling at the moment and its up to about 2 weeks. The cycling has been set back a bit cause i changed my filter about a week into it.
First i had an internal power filter before i decided to plant my tank right up so i went and bought a Fluval 205 canister filter.
Currently i'm running both so that the bacteria that had sofar built up in the first filter can pass into the new one.

I've also changed the aqua scape one already when i got more plants...

I had ten neon tetras in the tank to help cycle but they all died...... i think cause of the stress of being wedged in a gap in my background  of which is now filled with javamoss

Now i have three gouramis to cycle it.

So now your up to date jay

Very nice. I myself just started my first planted tank. I use a fluval, a cascade hob, 2 homemade spong filters. My tank has been running for a month and a half now. I just recently put plants into mine. I'm jealous of your aquascaping though. Mine is weak. What kind of lighting and substrate are you using? I chose to go with a mix of onyx sand, and flourite. For my lighting I use 2-36" 42OOK SUN GLO florescent bulbs. I like your background alot more than I do mine. Keep us updated. I'm curious have your plants begun to sprout yet. By sprout I mean, have they grown new grown since you've had them in your aquarium? Mine have a little.

G'day thanks for the nice words mate!

As for my lighting, its just a 36" 30w. i'm not sure of anything else about it :dunno:

My substrate sofar is just gravel, i couldn't afford the flourite yet but i plan to get at keast something better soon.

Most of my plants have only just been in a week or so so no growth yet.
I got my first seachem Florish today so i hope that will crank em up eh!

I've recently had a heap of hair grass turn up that i bought from ebay and i spent the morning planting it into my tank. along with removing some dying plants that i didn't like anyways.

Its looking great! i also am experimenting with RICCIA FLUITANS (or crystal wart).
tonight i spent some time tying a heap of it to some flat rocks. and they're in my new 2ft plant growing/cultivating tank.

I do have pics of all this but my usb plug on my camera is stuffed so i'm buying a SD card reader from ebay so hopefully i'll get it quick so i can put the pics up.

The plants are growing ok but i just can't wait to get my co2 into it!!
I'm hoping the co2 will get the hair grass looking healthier an get it sprouting some runners.

The Banana lilly is doing great with its forth lilly heading for the top and is rooting itself quite well.

My stem plants at the back have had a trip and they're resprouting again too.
I just cant wait for that co2 boost! jay
