Common name - Leichardti/Spotted Arowana
Scientific name - Scleropages leichardti
Origin - Australia
Max size - Around 24 inches
Care - This large fish needs plenty of room. It should not be kept in a tank less than a 180g and the width of the tank should be no less than 2ft.
This fish can be agressive so tank mates should be of a similar size.
These fish can be very skittish particulary at a young age. Make sure the tank is well secured as they will jump out. When the fish reaches a bigger size make sure the tank lids are made of thicker glass and are weighed down as they can smash through them!
Feeding - Prawns, Whitebait, Beefheart, Insects, Bloodworms.
I prefer too feed mine everyday as I find it keeps him calmer so he doesnt attack tankmates and jump around.
Sexing - Not known (I think)
Another pic showing the colour they obtain on their fins.
